James Hughes


James Hughes has directed for TV, Stage and Short Film.

He was also hired to be a Speaker for the Screenwriting Expo in Hollywood, where he taught a popular class on short filmmaking to students from around the world.

As a screenwriter, he has sold three feature film screenplays and numerous short film scripts to international production companies, and he has also worked for a Los Angeles talent agency for a year as a Story Analyst.

His short film, The Velvet Abstract, was produced on six continents, and featured CG and animating talent from The Hunger Games, Star Wars, Avatar, Game of Thrones, The Martian, and many more. Narrated by Tobias Menzies and scored by the world-renowned Composer Jean-Pascal Beintus the film won 20 awards, including 14 for Best Film.

James followed this with the short film version of The Inuring which won 20 awards at 60 film festivals – a one in three win ratio. These awards included Best UK Short FilmBest Director, three times, Best Narrative Short Film, twice, and Best in Show.
